The Area - Glan y Gors
Dinorwig is famous for its Hydro Electric
Power station which is built within the mountain.
It is well situated for discovering the many attractions
within Snowdonia. Some are on your doorstep like Llanberis,
the village at the foot of Snowdon which is about 5 miles
away by car and about 2 miles on foot (fairly steep hill).
In Llanberis there are many attractions including the Snowdon
Mountain Railway, Llanberis Lake Railway, the National
Slate Museum and the Power of Wales exhibition which includes
a tour of the Power Station. In addition there is boating
and watersports on the lake as well as walks in the Padarn
Country Park.
The area is ideal for having an active holiday, taking
advantage of all the facilities and attractions locally,
or for just relaxing and slowing down and taking in the
beautiful scenery.
You can either enjoy short scenic walks from the house
or tackle same of the famous 14 Peaks over 3000 feet.
The beaches are located all around the North
Wales coast and on Anglesey.
There are many beautiful, large, sandy beaches (within
25m), some with Blue flags status.
